Art of Motion, Inc. is a non-profit educational and cultural organization dedicated to teaching and presenting dance, theatre, vocal music, body conditioning, and literary and visual art projects. AOM welcomes collaborations and site-specific residences featuring professional and community based artists.
AOM serves dancers and artists from the metropolitan region including Bergen, Essex, Passaic, Rockland, and Westchester Counties as well as NYC.
Art of Motion’s PhilosophyAOM believes in developing an individual’s range of movement to his or her fullest capacity, and we emphasize the history and artistry of dance as a discipline and an art form.
The professional studio school explores the body and mind as a creative instrument and seeks to expand the technical range and expressiveness of each student. This is accomplished through daily technique classes, repertory rehearsals, master classes, residences, lecture/demonstrations, and dance/theatre/music collaborations.
Studio Environment…AOM offers a New York City professional approach to taking class. We cater to the individual dancer’s needs based upon when they are free to take class by offering drop-in classes every day of the week, as well as commitment for the semester, summer intensive, and year-long programs. We aim to provide an artistic atmosphere that is conducive to learning about the body as an expressive instrument by offering classes in classical ballet, modern, tap, classical jazz, theatre dance, Pilates-based exercise, yoga, improvisation, choreography, and repertory. Semi-private and Private lessons are also available upon request.
AOM offers multiple performances during the year. We focus on technique growth and exploration of dance as an art form within each class culminating in performance at the semester’s end.
AOM faculty consists of distinguished dancers, performers, singers and actors within the performing arts industry. Each teacher is highly qualified and experienced in the field of teaching the arts to others.
